Hearty Without a Pulse

 Hearty Without a Pulse
Jakub Halik, 37, a former UK fire fighter is perhaps the first man in the world to live without a pulse after an aggressive tumor in his heart needed a surgery.
Doctors removed his heart and replaced it with mechanical pumps six months ago. Incidentally, he happens to be the second man in the world to undergo this procedure and the first man to survive it for six months.

Jakub cannot undergo a normal transplant as the post operative medications are not suitable for victims of cancer.

He stays at the hospital and is on a wheel chair. He is awaiting a new heart at the Institute for Clinic and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). The usual waiting period for a heart transplant is about eight months.
