  • The World Heart Day 2022 campaign strives to lower the high rate of cardiovascular death
More than 17 million individuals lose their lives to heart disease each year. The World Heart Federation has declared September 29 of each year as World Heart Day.
World Heart Day aims to create awareness of heart disease. Events worldwide educate people about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its warning signs, prevention methods, and how to assist those who may be affected.

Every year on September 29, World Heart Day aims to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and ways to prevent them to lower their impact on people worldwide. The World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization collaborated to create the international heart day. Antoni Bayés de Luna, who served as the World Heart Federation's president from 1997 to 1999, came up with this concept. Initially, World Heart Day was celebrated on September 24, 2000. Up until 2011, it was celebrated as the last Sunday in September (1 Trusted Source

Cardiovascular Diseases are the Leading Cause of Death

Globally, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) constitute the leading cause of death. The two major causes of these deaths were coronary heart disease and strokes. Many individuals are under the impression that CVD affects more people in industrialized rich nations because they rely more heavily on technology and lead sedentary lifestyles. However this is not true as middle-income and low-income countries account for over 80% of all fatalities. Fortunately, the primary risk factors to cardiovascular diseases- such as inactivity, smoking and a poor diet- can be changed.

Cardiovascular disorders negatively influence economic systems because they are expensive to treat and cause protracted absences from work and lost productivity when left untreated.

Every year, more than 90 nations participate in this global event to create awareness. World Heart Day has thus shown to be a successful method for spreading knowledge about CVD. The importance of government and organization involvement is crucial for developing nations because they are severely affected by these diseases.
