Dunedin Hospital in New Zealand conducted a hand hygiene audit to find that just half of the staff was actually washing their hands using traditional methods or with an antimicrobial agent. Dunedin hospital is seeking a change in hand hygiene and is currently working on instilling best practices among its workforce.
More public awareness is required about the importance of hand washing and New Zealand is all set to make this as a national health target.
