Some of Gwyneth Paltrow's dubious suggestions to cure New Year's Day hangover have been dismissed by a doctor. Paltrow offers readers of her lifestyle newsletter GOOP some insight into what causes us to feel so ill the morning after drinking too much and suggested some tips to prevent and cure it.
But Dr. Michael Lucchesi, chief medical staff at SUNY Downstate Medical Center found some of her tips awful.
Lucchesi was not impressed with Paltrow's endorsement of the health "elixir" Mercy, despite her disclosure that she's an investor in the company.
While Paltrow swears by the "amino acids, vitamins, minerals and herb" drink and even suggests mixing it with booze for "hangover-preventing cocktail," Lucchesi gave the whole idea the thumbs down.
"Something like this is no more beneficial than water or maybe even Gatorade. It's the salts and electrolytes that provide relief," the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.
Lucchesi found her suggestion of dragging one's hung-over carcass into a hot steam room, even more baffling.

"Most of these are totally water soluble. If you're drinking water through out the evening, you'll just urinate them out," he claimed.
