Go for Red to Promote Heart Disease Awareness Month in the United States
As February is marked as the National Heart Health Awareness Month in the United states, the American Heart Association (AHA) has urged women to Go Red on Friday.
Feb. 5 is the National Wear Red Day to throw a light on the number one killer of men and women — heart disease. Heart disease is a term that covers several types of diseases of the heart, blood, arteries and veins. Having a heart disease can often result in heart failure, heart attack, stroke or peripheral artery disease.

Heart disease is the number one killer among women than other diseases. 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for heart disease or stroke but still remain unaware about it.

“This is such a simple way to make a difference in our community. Every red heart, red ribbon or red dress in a store window reminds women, and all of us, how important our hearts are. Heart healthy should be our main priority in February and all year long to prevent our number one killer,” said Janice Halle, member of the American Heart Association Board of Directors.
