Generic Drug Stores in Mangalore to Benefit the Poor
The government has signed an agreement with HLL Life Care Limited to establish generic medical centres and 24x7 pharmacy centres in all districts. Former MP Oscar Fernandes laid the foundation stone for drug store at the Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore, India.
Minister for health and family welfare, U T Khader said, "The generic drug store would be open in three months. The store will benefit poor patients, as the price will be 80% lesser than the market price. Meanwhile, other branded medicines will be sold at 20% discount at the store." He added that the work of generic and other medicines stores in other districts is in progress.

"After taking the feedback, we will plan similar stores in taluk centres too. We are fulfilling the promise made by the government. We are also chalking out plans for the implementation of a scheme that will extend 48 hours of free medical treatment for road accident victims up to Rs 25,000," Khader said.
