Gastric Band Surgery – Is It Worth the Risk?

Kim Swan , a woman in her early forties and weighing 24 stone was very keen to visit Disney World after she knocked off the extra pounds.

She underwent a gastric band operation which cost £10,000.

Kim developed a stomach infection and was operated upon in November 2010. She was so weak as the gastric bypass did not allow her to consume more than 500 calories per day. This caused her to become malnourished.

Warning people about weight loss surgery, her husband John, 45, said, "Try diet and exercise. This was meant to improve Kim's life, but it has killed her."
