Yet another Josef Fritzl-like case has surfaced in Australia, with a man in his 50s being charged with incest and a string a sexual assaults against children over the past 40 years.

Victoria Police have revealed that the Gippsland man faces 27 charges, including seven counts of carnal knowledge of a child under 10, three counts of sexual penetration of a child under 10 and one count of incest.

Official sources have revealed that the alleged sex assaults, involving a number of victims, took place in the Wonthaggi and Morwell areas between 1971 and 2002.

Other charges include seven counts of unlawful assault, two counts of gross indecency with a person under 16, two counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecent act with a child under 16, two counts of common assault, and one charge of threats to kill.

The man is expected to appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court this morning, reports the Age.

This case comes just days after it was reported that a Gippsland man in his 60s had fathered four children by his daughter in a 30-year reign of sexual terror.

The unnamed man has pleaded guilty to charges of incest and rape.

He is due to be sentenced in a Melbourne court in November.
