Food Poisoning in a Residential School in Tapi
Due to suspected food poisoning 20 students of Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya at Borkhadi village in Tapi district were admitted to a local hospital, while over 130 others were kept under the observation of health officials. Water and food samples from the school have been collected by health officials. Similarly they have also inspected the surrounding area. According to the officers the incident might have occurred because the children were served stale food.
Students at the Centre-aided residential school were given rice and curry for dinner. Several students complained of stomach ache, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting around midnight; following which the school principal informed the health department. 6 teams of health officials from Vyara reached the school in the early morning and after check-up, they shifted 20 students to the hospital.

Taluka health officer, Dr. R.S. Soni said, "Everything is under control now. Condition of the students admitted to the hospital is stable. Our medical teams are camping in the school where rest of the students are undergoing treatment."
