Florida Hospital Offering Free Follow-Up Evaluations for Experimental Spinal Surgery Patients
Patients who underwent an experimental spinal surgery at the Florida Hospital in the past five years are being told that the surgeon had not followed all the protocols properly and are being offered free follow-up evaluations.
The experimental surgery has been stopped and the hospital is sending letters to the patients who underwent the operation. Personal injury lawyer John Morgan accessed a copy of one such letter and made it public at a press conference, where he told that his firm had a number of clients who told that the problem persisted or became worse following the surgery.

The hospital admitted that they have been problems with the procedure, though it was quick to state that the surgery, called the dynamic Stablization of the spine, has been stopped and the staff neurosurgeon, Dr William Lu, was no longer seeing patients.

A statement released by the hospital said, “Not all protocols associated with performing an experimental surgery such as this were followed. We have notified the appropriate federal and state agencies of this issue. We sent the letter to our patients because it was the appropriate thing to do.”
