Taking fish oil capsules during pregnancy may protect your baby from eczema, according to scientists at the Adelaide University.
Tests of 700 pregnant women with a family history of eczema showed that children whose mothers had taken Omega-3 supplements during pregnancy, were 1/3rd less likely to develop the dry-skin condition, compared with women who took a placebo.
Scientists believe that Omegap-3 fatty acids passed on via the placenta, affect the unborn baby's immune system which protects against eczema.
