Financial Security Comes Before Baby for Oz Women
Having a baby is not high on the list of Australian women with a large majority wanting to first become financially secure before thinking about kids, a new survey reveals.
Experts from Galaxy Research conducted the survey among women between 18 and 44 years of age and found that less than 4 percent considered having a baby as a top priority.

Even though more than 70 percent said that they would like to have a baby at some stage, nearly 43 percent believed that their family and friends were the top priority in their lives.

Over 1,000 women took part in the survey which was commissioned by the ovulation and pregnancy test company Clearblue. Commenting on the results of the survey, University of NSW’s Professor William Ledger said, “This reflects current social trends that show that Australian women are, on average, making the decision to start their family at a later age than ever before. But women should be aware of the impact of delaying starting a family.”
