Fatter Chips may Help People Stay Slim

by Rajshri on Mar 4 2010 9:15 PM

Officials from the Food Standards Agency are suggesting that consumers must eat fatter or thicker chips to stay slim. They feel that chunkier fish and chips have lesser calories and could help people stay slim.

However representatives of food bodies are furious, "They should be concentrating on fast food outlets who make the thin French fries, not the traditional independent chip shop. At the moment it seems like a case of picking on the little guys because they can't touch the big guys," the Daily Express quoted Douglas Roxburgh of the National Federation of Fish Fryers as saying.

An FSA spokesman said that the growing obesity crisis in the country could be tackled by small changes in the local chip shop.
