31-Year-Old Organ Donor Saves Three Lives; Family Creates Awareness on Organ Donation
Thirty-one-year old Kevin Sullivan donated his organs and his family witness the recipients whose lives were saved by the donation. After Sullivan’s death, his sisters and parents appreciate organ donation and are now working to spread the word through public speaking and social media. //
“Facebook is quite the venue. The donor stories bring so much comfort to everyone on there. I’ve had so many people come up to us and say they’re an organ donor now,” said Kevin’s younger sister, Katie.

The Sullivan family attended an organ donation awareness event at Boston Children’s Hospital to talk about their experience and were joined by four organ recipients.

Kevin’s mother, Debra, said, “Most of Kevin’s high school friends are going to be donors now.” New England Organ Bank estimates that more than 120,000 people in the United States are waiting for organ transplants. An average of 17 people die every day while waiting for a transplant.

“I’ve spoken to people, and I think some are afraid. If you have any misconception, educate yourself,” said Liz Molina-Cordero, whose son was 22 months old when he received Kevin’s kidney.
