 Expressing Emotions Paralyzes Woman’s Body
A 25-year old woman suffers from a rare neurological disorder that paralyses her body every time she expresses a strong emotion, such as anger, surprise or love.
Kelly Timson suffers from a rare condition called cataplexy which leaves her paralyzed whenever she gets angry, amused or looks at her sons with motherly admiration. Her condition means that she cannot watch comedy shows or go to a pub with her friends.

Kelly revealed that she suffers from 20 attacks a day and often injuries herself when falling down. One time she was almost suffocated as she fell face down on a sofa. Her brother or mother accompanies her throughout the day in order to catch her when she collapses and she added that she also suffers from a related condition known as narcolepsy in which she falls randomly asleep any time of the day no matter what she is doing.

Kelly expressed fears that she may have passed on her illness to her younger son Ronnie who is undergoing tests after experiencing a fit. She added that she is taking new medication and hoped that it could improve her condition. “I’m trying some new medication at the moment and I’m waiting to see how that goes. With any luck it will help my condition and I might even be able to go to a comedy club someday”, she said.
