Exergames may Not Provide Any Physical Benefit
A recent study has revealed the futility of ‘exergames’ such as Wii FIT Balanceare, which does not offer any physical benefit.
When the Nintendo Wii game console arrived six years ago, parents were excited as they thought it would help children get active even without stepping out of the house. Since it was fitness and fun combined, parents thought it was a good investment for their children.

A study conducted by researchers revealed that children with these active video games were not as active as expected to be.

Researchers said, "When you prescribe increased physical activity, overall activity remains the same because the subjects compensate by reducing other physical activities during the day. It may seem that active video games are an easy solution to getting kids off the couch. But as this study and others show, they do no such thing."

Ultimately, there is nothing to beat “live sports” as it still is the gold standard to achieve maximum fitness and cardiovascular benefit.
