Suffering from even mild stress can prove to be detrimental to a person’s long term health

The researchers also found that the chances of a mildly stressed person living on disability payments increased by 70 percent. Around 650 people involved in the study started to receive disability payment during the study period with just over 200 of them receiving the payments for mental problems while the rest suffered from physical problems.
“Mild psychological distress may be associated with more long-term disability than previously acknowledged and its public health importance may be underestimated”, the researchers wrote.
