'Ebola-Proof' Tablet Device Helps Shield Medics from Deadly Virus

by Dr. Trupti Shirole on Mar 21 2015 5:19 PM

Several doctors and healthcare workers have been infected by the deadly Ebola virus while treating Ebola patients. Now, technology volunteers at MSF and Google has developed a Ebola-proof tablet device that can shield medics from the deadly virus to help them care for Ebola patients more effectively.
This tablet can be used even wearing gloves and in storms and high humidity. It can withstand being doused in 0.5% chlorine solution which kills Ebola.

According to Ivan Gayton, technology advisor at MSF, the tablet has waterproof casing at an ’industrial level’. The sharp edges of the tablet were removed so that protective clothing would not be pierced.
