Eating Brownie May Help Fix Period Pains
Period days are tough with the cramps, pain, exhaustion and the urge to indulge in sweet things. But loading up on sugar can add to feeling a bit gross and grim.
Most of us, even if we don’t suffer from PMS, find ourselves craving sweet treats as our hormones sway and our body cries out for more serotonin (which we can release when we eat food associated with happiness).

To help ease women from their pain, an US bakery came up with the idea of selling brownies. Founder of Moon Cycle Bakery Devon Loft says all the recipes don't have any refined sugar, but contain nutrients which have proven to beneficial for combating hormonal fluctuations.

It’s a monthly delivery service which costs $15 (£11) for one treat, $20 (£14) for two and $30 (£22) for three – with free shipping (so no, not given away).

"When you're on your period, something that is delicious and sweet can be so comforting," Loft said. "But we thought, wouldn't it be great if you could feed those cravings with something that is good for your body." The idea originated when Loft hosted a party with her then-fiancé in California’s Bay Area. Her husband who is a trained chef made a delicious chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and cookie dough icing.

It was quite a hit. One friend she said told her: "I don't know whether it's because I'm on my period, but that cake was so delicious it made me emotional'. That comment got her thinking and soon she started investigating about food's relationship to menstrual cycle.
