Eat Healthy, Stay Hydrated and Sleep to Ward Off Migraine
Migraines are debilitating headaches that can be accompanied with nausea, light sensitivity, and even an aura around the eyes.

"By the time the headache is really terrible, a migraine sufferer is missing out on good things in life, as well as having the pain and suffering that they have to deal with just from the migraine itself," said Dr. Jeffrey Royce, headache specialist.

Royce said migraines are not just a headache. They start in the nerves in the sack around the brain before heading down to the brain stem.

"That's called centralization, and that's the hallmark of runaway migraine," said Dr. Royce, "and it's harder to stop a migraine once that headache pain has become centralized and left that superficial, exterior portion of the brain."

"Migraines beget migraines," explained Dr. Royce. "So the price you have to pay for not treating a migraine is more and frequent migraines."

Dr.Royce said repeat migraines do not lead to any cognitive dysfunction down the road. He also suggests that a good way to stave off a migraine is to stay hydrated, eat healthy and exercise.
