Dr. Abdul Kalam Inaugurates Eye Centre in Odisha

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former president of India inaugurated the Odisha Cements Limited (OCL) Eye Centre of OCL India Limited at Rajgangpur.

The OCL Eye Centre is equipped with all necessary modern eye care equipment and will be a secondary level eye specialty hospital offering examination and treatment of all common eye diseases.

Most of the staff are being recruited locally and trained at LV Prasad Eye Institute to build local competency. Full-fledged out-patient care will be offered from Saturday and a few weeks later, eye surgeries will commence.

In the inaugural address, Dr. Kalam shared his views on developed and developing countries. Marketing products to other countries competitively by ensuring quality of products, cost effectiveness and timely supply would make a country, an empowered nation.

He wished that India becomes an economically developed nation, and envisage a country where the rural-urban divide was minimal by 2020 and where there was equitable distribution and adequate access to energy and quality water.
