While women in New Zealand feel their dogs make better listeners than men, the men think their four-legged mates are more loving, reports a survey.

The survey also revealed that nearly 50 percent of female cat owners share their problems with their feline friend.
And 50 percent even consider themselves as their pet's parent.
"When people find strong companionship and affection in their pets, it is quite normal for them to begin treating their animals as important family members," Stuff.co.nz quoted Purina's pet-care expert Shivaun Statham, as saying.
