Dogs can Not Only Watch Over You but Wash Your Laundry too
Dogs are turning more helpful as the days go by. They are evolving from being watchers of their owner’s safety to washers, as they can now be trained to operate washing machines. This is a boon to people with disabilities.
A washing machine that can begin operations with the bark of a dog has been developed for people with disabilities.

The device's inventor, John Middleton, managing director of laundry specialist JTM, explained, “I had been working on a single programme washing machine to make things easier and there was a lot of demand for it. Then I saw a video from the charity Support Dogs, where a dog strips a bed and loads the washing machine. I was blown away and thought I could invent a machine where the dog does everything. So I got in touch with Support Dogs and they loved the idea. They said it would be a huge help to their severely disabled users.”

The came out with a machine that can be used by trained dogs to assist their disabled owners with the household laundry.

Charity director of operations Rita Howson said: “A normal washing machine can be very challenging. What John has brilliantly come up with here is to tailor make these machines to individual needs.”

The Sheffield charity, Support Dogs, is now training dogs to control the machine.
