Doctor Succumbs To Swine Flu In Rajasthan, Toll Rises To Four

H1N1 virus claims life of a 66-year-old doctor in Rajasthan, taking the death toll due to swine flu to four since August 31.

R. P. Modi of Bikaner died on Wednesday in the ICU of the private hospital, an official of the State medical department said on Thursday.

Nine persons have tested positive for H1N1 in various hospitals, he said.

A task force meeting headed by Joint Secretary of Medical Education S P Singh was held on seasonal diseases including swine flu, malaria and dengue here.

All government hospitals have been directed to keep strict vigilance on the seasonal diseases and provide treatment and diagnosis to patients as per the previous norms of the state government, the official said.

A total of 2,171 H1N1 cases, 129 deaths and 643 dengue cases have been reported since January this year. Health officials have asked AMC to intensify preventive measures.

Three persons, including two women died of swine flu, while seven were found to be H1N1 positive in a fresh spell of the virus in parts of Rajasthan.

Since January 1, as many as 439 people have died of swine flu in the State, which included 88 deaths in Jaipur; 48 in Ajmer; 33 in Jodhpur; 31 in Nagaur; 23 in Barmer; 22 in Kota; 15 in Udaipur; 14 in Chittorgarh; 13 each in Sikar, Bhilwara and Tonk; 12 in Pali; 11 in Jhunjhunu; 10 in Churu and remaining in other parts of Rajasthan.

Swine Flu Affects 3 More In Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
The three persons -- two women and a man from Odisha -- tested positive for H1N1 influenza and are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Visakhapatnam.
