Do Not Potty Train Your Kids Before They Turn Three
A pediatric urologist has cautioned parents against pressurizing kids to potty train before they turn three as the child’s bladder may not have developed to the extent needed to deal with toilet training.
Dr Steve Hodges, a professor at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, has advised that potty training before age three can cause urinary tract infections, can trigger constipation and even lead to kidney damage.

Dr Hodges said that nearly 50% of his patients who approach him with toileting are the ones who have been forced to potty train before they turned three.

He also advised that children who experience any toilet issues must be taken to a specialist, as most often parents ignore the condition assuming it will settle with time.
