Die 28, Live 29: Brit Man Saved Miraculously After His Heart Stops 28 Times
A Brit man has been saved after his heart stopped 28 times during a surgery.
Dad-of-three Steve Nixon had a heart attack while riding a motorbike and he banged into an oncoming car.

As paramedics treated him at the crash scene, Nixon's heart stopped many times, but they managed to get it going again with a blast from their defibrillators.

The 44-year-old was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry where his heart stopped a further 23 times.

Each time doctors got it going again before they managed to fit a pacemaker to stabilize his heartbeat and repair a torn artery.

"I am blessed to be here today to tell the tale. The medical staff pulled me through," the Sun quoted him as saying.

"I pulled through because of the love of my family and the truly remarkable people in the NHS," he added.

Dawn Adamson, Consultant Cardiologist at the hospital, said: "We discovered Nixon had a tear in the main artery which supplied his heart.

"He was too unwell to withstand heart surgery so Nixon spent two hours undergoing a complex technique which provided scaffolding to the damaged arteries and allowed blood to flow again to the heart."
