A dentist who had removed a wrong tooth of a patient has been ordered to pay more than Rs 57,000 by a consumer forum.
Poonam Devi, a resident of Chandigarh, had gone to Dr Ashima Kohli complaining of pain in her lower jaw. The patient had earlier consulted another doctor who suggested that the pain would subside once the sixth tooth of the lower jaw was removed while Dr Kohli said that she will be extracting the seventh tooth.
Mrs Poonam said that the pain did not subside even after extracting the tooth and then she consulted a government doctor who said that the cause of pain was indeed the sixth tooth. When the patient and her husband tried to contact Dr Kohli on the issue, she is said to have been misbehaved with the patient, which led them to lodge a complaint with the consumer forum.
