Dental Stem Cell Bank Announces Major Expansion Plan
India's first private dental stem cell bank Stemade Biotech announced a major expansion plan that will see it open branches in 10 major cities across the country.

Stemade Biotech already has opened up branches in Mumbai and New Delhi and will be expanding their presence in major cities such as Pune, Hyderabad, Surat, Chennai and Bangalore over the next 10 months.

The Magaing Director of Stemade Biotech, Shailesh Gadre said that while normally the harvesting of stem cells has a very small window of a few minutes immediately after the birth, dental stem can be extracted from children of 6-12 years of age or even among adults who come to remove their wisdom tooth.

"Baby teeth (age 6-12) especially canines are the best sources. 12 baby teeth are sufficient. For wisdom teeth (age 16-20), the third molars are good with a minimum 2 molars", he said.

Gadre added that his company charges a one-time processing fee of Rs 60,000 and then charges Rs 6,000 per month to store the dental stem cells.
