Dental Health Awareness Month in Canada
Good dental health is equivalent to good overall health of an individual. This message will be reinforced in the dental health awareness month in Canada.
Preventative care is also in focus, especially among older adults. Statistics Canada figures indicate that seniors have responded well to calls for proper oral care as just 6% of seniors did not have natural teeth in 2007-2009 as compared to 17% in 1990.

"Dentistry is focused on disease prevention and early detection," Dr. Bruce Ward, President, British Columbia Dental Association, told Times Colonist. "By visiting the dentist regularly not only can cavities and gum disease be caught early, there is also the potential to detect other diseases, such as oral cancer."

Parents must also focuses on prevention as good oral hygiene in childhood is a precursor to good dental health in adulthood as well. Preventing the formation of cavities in childhood by virtue of proper diet and proper brushing will go a long way in ensuing good oral health in kids.
