 Dengue Outbreak Claims Three Lives in Guwahati
Health officials in Guwahati, Assam, are reporting a new outbreak of dengue fever, which has so far claimed three lives over the last eight days while many more have been hospitalized.
While one man, Raju Dewan, died Thursday in a city hospital, his wife Loni Dewan breathed her last in the same hospital Tuesday. Another person, Kandarpa Deka, died due to dengue Aug 21.

Ramen Kalita, superintendent of the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, said there were nine suspected dengue patients in the hospital.

Aedes mosquitoes, which cause dengue, are endemic to the region.
