
A new strategy to deal with dementia is being launched in Scotland.
Under the new strategy, the Scottish government will continnue to support research efforts for dementia and also try to frame national care standards for management of the disease.

"People with dementia must not only ensure the very best clinical care but must be treated with respect and dignity at all times, and these standards will enshrine our belief that this has to happen for every patient, every time," said Public Health Minister Shona Robison."This strategy - Scotland's first - is desperately needed. "
The new strategy will map out ways to give better care for dementia sufferers and also initiate better hospital care and give more support after diagnosis. It is estimated that 71,000 people in Scotland have dementia.
