Dallas Physician Arrested on Charges of $375 Million Health Care Fraud
Another health care fraud in the US came to light with the arrest of a Dallas physician and his office manager – from his medical practice, early this week along with five owners of home health agencies. This was reported in enewspf.com.
All seven were charged with participating in a nearly $375 million health care scheme involving fraudulent claims for home health services.

Dr Roy is charged with nine counts of substantive health care fraud, and Veasey, Patricia Akamnonu and Eleda are each charged with three counts of health care fraud. Eleda also is charged with three counts of making false statements related to a Medicare claim.

In addition to the indictment, CMS announced the suspension of an additional 78 home health agencies (HHA) associated with Roy based on credible allegations of fraud against them.

The arrests and charges were announced by Deputy Attorney General James Cole and Health and Human Services (HHS) Deputy Secretary Bill Corr among other officials.

The Medicare Fraud Strike Force operations, a part of the Health Care Fraud Prevention & Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) are presently focusing their efforts on preventing fraud and enforcing anti-fraud laws around the country.
