Cross-gender Spa Service Receives Green Signal from HC
The Madras High Court ruled on Friday that the police do not have any right to prevent massage spas that offer cross-gender services; that is persons of one sex providing therapy to those belonging to the opposite sex.

Justice K. Chandru said the Supreme Court had already ruled on such matters holding that moralistic values could not be held against individual autonomy. Police had closed the Influence Spa being run by Influence Lifestyle Stores in the city under the charge that "it would have an evil influence over our youth."

"In the absence of a law, the only argument of the state was based upon moral and ethical grounds," the court ruled.
