Indian researchers are on the brink of growing crops enhanced with omega-3 fatty acids even as awareness about nutrition spreads in the society.
"To increase yields and enhance nutrition, improved rice varieties which have in-built insect protection, and are fortified with high iron and zinc are being developed in India," agricultural-biotechnology experts said in a statement.
Researchers at Interactive Research School for Health Affairs (IRSHA) of Bharathi Vidyapeeth University are also hoping to grow seeds with omega-3 fatty acid so as to produce crops that contain the nutrients.
