Cricketer Yuvraj Battling Non-malignant Tumor

Shabnam Singh, cricketer Yuvraj Singh's mother revealed that her son was suffering from non-malignant tumor, but now he is on the path of recovery.

Biopsy reports have indicated that the tumour is non-malignant and non-threatening and can be treated through proper medication and therapy.

"As I have told earlier also he has got a lump of flesh in his chest which is to be dissolved. It is not life threatening. The flesh can dissolve by therapies and medicines. Yuvraj Singh wants to become fully fit before returning to the fields," said Shabnam Singh.

Yuvraj had declared himself unavailable for the one-day series against the West Indies and was also not picked for the Test series in Australia.

Yuvraj has been troubled by health issues since the World Cup, which India won, and has played just one Test match in England after that.

One of the cleanest strikers of the ball and an agile fielder whose left-arm spin is more than handy in the 50 and 20-over formats, Yuvraj has struggled to cement his place in the test side in more than a decade of international cricket.

Yuvraj's mother, however, appeared confident that he would soon be fully fit and make a comeback in the upcoming one-day series against Australia.

Yuvraj, who has played 37 tests so far, has been instrumental in India's 20 and 50-over World Cup victories in 2007 and 2011.

Dealing With Non-Malignant Tumors
The condition tuberous sclerosis, due to mutation in one of two tumor suppressor genes, TSC1 or TSC2, causes the growth of non-malignant tumors throughout the body and skin.
