Corporation Of Chennai Intensifies Necessary Steps To Control Dengue Cases
Corporation of Chennai (CoC) is expecting 200 more dengue fever cases this year, as monsoon is expected on October 28.
“The zonal level health officials have been warned about official action if they fail to control these cases,” says a senior official at CoC.

A total of 553 dengue cases were recorded in the city in 2012. This year, so far 94 dengue cases have been reported. The CoC receives reports from over 345 hospitals on notifiable diseases daily.

“Now, over 200 general fever cases are reported on a daily basis. We’ve taken various measures to control dengue,” said the official.

Zonal health officers, sanitary inspectors and officers have been warned by the CoC to intensify monitoring these fevers in their respective jurisdiction.

“If they fail to control these fevers, they will be dismissed from service,” he added

CoC has planned to conduct door-to-door- visits to check for any fever cases. CoC has instructed zonal officers to submit reports on a daily basis to higher officials. Fogging has been intensified in the city to prevent dengue cases.
