Combination treatments for Kala-azar (visceral leishmaniasis) have proved to be more effective and safe than the standard treatment.

In the study that was conducted between June 2008 and July 2009, researchers studied 630 patients and compared standard treatment with amphotericin-b infusion with the 3 drug combinations in two different hospitals in Bihar. The results showed that combination therapy proved to be more effective.
