The COAI and AUSPI have reassured the public that cellphone towers do not pose any health hazards due to radiation.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) have reassured the public that cellphone towers do not pose any health hazards due to radiation. A number of studies have speculated over the dangers of mobile phone towers, claiming that the radiation from the towers is detrimental to the health.
However COAI and AUSPI have roped in eminent doctors and tech academicians from Indian Institute of Madras (IITM) and Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai in order to confirm that the towers do not pose any risk.
The AUSPI secretary general, S C Khanna, said that the fear of health risk by cellphone towers is a myth. “It is pertinent to note that RF exposure of the public started many years ago when radio, television came into being, however no long term effects have been observed so far”, he said.
