Clarcon Skin Products Contain Bacteria, Says FDA

The FDA is warning consumers not to use beauty products from Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory Inc. of Roy, Utah, as they are contaminated with bacteria.

Products like skin sanitizers and skin protectants are being recalled by the company voluntarily after a recent inspection found disease-causing bacteria in high numbers in those products.

"Consumers should not use any Clarcon products and should throw these products away in household refuse," the FDA said. The following are the products under the scanner.

   *  Citrushield Lotion

    * Dermasentials DermaBarrier

    * Dermasentials by Clarcon Antimicrobial Hand Sanitizer

    * Iron Fist Barrier Hand Treatment

    * Skin Shield Restaurant

    * Skin Shield Industrial

    * Skin Shield Beauty Salon Lotion

    * Total Skin Care Beauty

    * Total Skin Care Work

The FDA said using these products could cause serious infections that could require surgery as treatment modality.
