Children Attaining Puberty Early Suffer Emotional Problems Even Before the Onset of Puberty

A recent study shows that children with early onset of puberty are stressed emotionally and socially from preschool age. The study followed nearly 3500 children from the age of four through eleven. It was found that boys attaining puberty by eight or nine years had behavioral problems additional to social and emotional problems. Behavior problems were not noted among girls.

It is well recorded that children have started having their puberty at a much younger age. In line with other records, the study has found that 16 percent of girls and six percent of boys start puberty early.

The study was conducted by researchers from the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne and published on in the Journal of Adolescent Health.
