 Childhood Obesity Crisis in Britain
33.4% children (i.e. 1 child in 3) are overweight when they leave primary school at the age of 11-years, according to NHS figures. The number of 10 and 11-year old children who fall into this category has risen by nearly 10% in just 4-years.
Experts warn that many of these youngsters will remain obese for the rest of their lives, putting them at a greater risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and other serious illnesses. Doctors blamed poor eating habits in many homes for this trend.

Also, there has been rising concern that the Government is not doing enough to tackle the nation's weight problem.

These figures come from more than a million children who are part of the National Child Measurement Program, which records their weight and height in the first and last years of primary school.
