Chief Minister of Odisha Proposes Plans to Set Up “Blood Helpline” in the State
Odisha government has announced that a ‘Blood Helpline’ will be set up to facilitate blood to the needy patients across the state.
Naveen Patnaik, chief minister announced this during a meeting conducted at the secretariat where besides the blood helpline he has asked the health officials to strengthen blood banks across the state.

Any person requiring blood can call the helpline to get information of availability of blood at the bank in his area. In the initial stage, people with rare blood groups will be registered and the helpline would be operational soon. A regular calendar would also be maintained for blood collection.

He advised that State Action Plan (SAP) for strengthening blood transfusion services must be strictly followed to ensure ultimate safety and voluntary blood donation should be encouraged in the state.

It was revealed in the meeting that the 3.65 lakh units have been collected this year by November. Out of this 45 percent is through voluntary blood donation.
