 Chewing Khat may Increase Risk of Stroke
Chewing Khat, a herbal stimulant may elevate risk of stroke especially in those with a history of cardiovascular disease. It is estimated that nearly 20 million people worldwide chew Khat.
The Khat plant has a similar effect like cocaine and amphetamine and can cause feelings of extreme happiness, agitation and restlessness.

A new study has also found that victims of heart disease who chew the fresh leaves of the Catha edulis, or khat, carry a higher risk of stroke, heart failure, and death compared to non-users.
