Chairman of V-Guard Industries Donates Kidney to Truck Driver
In a major boost for the organ donation drive in the country, the chairman of V-Guard Industries Limited, Kochouseph Chittilappilly, has donated his kidney to a truck driver who is the resident of Erattupetta in Kottayam district.
Chittilappilly, who heads the Rs 500-crore company, donated his kidney as part of the new initiative launched by the Kidney Federation of India.

Chittilappilly is reported to have been inspired by Father Davis Chirammel, who donated his kidney to a carpenter back in 2009 before setting up the Kidney Federation of India which is based in Thrissur.

The KFI has set up a Kidney Bank and has called on a number of well known personalities to kick start the donation campaign by donating their kidney.

Over 1,000 patients have already registered with KFI and are seeking non-related donors for kidneys though the receivers will also have to find a new donor to donate their kidney to the organization.
