 Cashless Insurance Scheme for 70,000 Police Personnel
Replacing the already existing medical reimbursement scheme, the Punjab state government has approved a cashless insurance scheme for about more than 70,000 police personnel and their families. The Government has sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for this scheme.
Every police personnel will be insured for Rs. 2 lakh per year. The insurance company will be responsible for providing and implementing health insurance cover for surgeries that require less than 24 hour hospitalization like in the case of dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, eye surgery, lithotripsy, tonsillectomy or coronary angiography. Besides the cash less insurance cover each police personnel will also get monthly fixed medical allowance as per the existing norms.
