Cannibalism Charge In Israel Murder Case
An Australian, charged with stabbing his wife to death, has told a Tel Aviv court that she was an ‘enemy agent,’ and had forced him to eat human flesh. He has since been ordered to undergo a psychiatric examination.
On Monday afternoon local time, Israeli Police found John Paul Sebastian in his hotel room, standing over the body of his 54-year-old wife with a knife in his hand, Tel Aviv Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Hotel guests had alerted police after hearing screams from Sebastian's 15th floor room. His wife died at the scene as a result of multiple stab wounds in her upper torso and neck, police said.

The Tel Aviv Magistrates Court yesterday heard Sebastian's allegations that his wife was an "enemy agent" who forced him to eat human flesh and raw meat, despite initially telling police that he acted in self-defence, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Sebastian also alleged his wife had "owned him" for several years as a result of a written agreement.

It is believed that Sebastian and his wife arrived in Israel several days ago for a holiday.

The court ordered him to undergo a psychiatric assessment to determine whether he is mentally fit to stand trial.

Outside the court, Sebastian’s attorney Eyal Ohayun said he had agreed that Sebastian should be detained for a further eight days while more psychiatric tests were carried out.

‘‘We want to know and find out whether he is able to stand for a trial,’’ Mr Ohayun said.

‘‘He had last night [his] first exam, and the exam showed that he’s suffering from [a] psychotic situation and probably this is the cause for the act.’’
