Cancer Medical Camp Evokes Good Response At Srinagar

'Medanta' in association with the Department of Health of the Jammu and Kashmir Government organized a medical camp today to provide specialized medical facilities to the cancer patients of Valley. Scores of people visited the camp where doctors with specialization in different fields provided free medical treatment and medicines for cancer patients.

Interacting with media, cancer specialist, Dr. Tejinder Kataria said the camp would reduce the traveling of the patients by enabling diagnosis by specialists.

"The camp aims to reduce the traveling of the patients by enabling them to get diagnosed by specialists and get tests done here itself. Secondly many patients, who have not got their diagnosis done, and have to travel from far away areas, we are here to help them out with treatment and medical examinations," Kataria said.

The state government initiated the free medical treatment for patients who belong to middle class families and cannot afford expensive treatment.

Hailing the program, a patient, Hussain Shah said that such camps should be held twice in a month in order to spread awareness about cancer.

"The awareness among people about cancer is less, so we want such medical camps should be organized twice a month which would benefit people a lot," Hussain said.
