Broccoli and Tomato Ketchup Linked to Prostate Cancer Prevention

by Rajashri on Sep 10 2009 11:17 PM

Professor Margaret Rayman, a British nutritionist, has revealed that certain foods are very adept at preventing prostate cancer. Rayman and colleagues at the University of Surrey have compiled what they claim to be the first ever “evidence based” recipes, which are now available in The Prostate Care Cookbook.

"Most people with prostate cancer want to do something for themselves and I think diet is something they can do,” Prof Rayman said at the British Science Festival. “I just wanted to write a cookbook that was backed up by scientific knowledge.”

Some of the super foods quoted in the book include broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, onions, garlic and leaks.

One recipe, which sounds unappetizing, is to eat raw broccoli with tomato ketchup and Brazil nuts.
