Moreover some one in six worried about the amount they drank at home after examining the number of bottles deposited in the recycle bin.
"Drinking in the home can lull us into a false sense of security because we simply fail to take note of the amount we consume. But the reality is that many people are unwittingly at risk from the long-term health problems," said Drinkaware chairman Derek Lewis.
The Trust has launched a poster campaign with slogans like "Big party at the weekend?" and a bottle bank with the message "Do you come here often?" in order to tackle this issue.
