British Dad-to-be Signs Off Work With Morning Sickness
A British dad-to-be has been signed off from work after suffering ‘sympathy morning sickness.’ Security guard Harry Ashby is on sick leave after being diagnosed with couvade syndrome — a condition that means he is physically mimicking his pregnant wife.
The 29-year-old, native of Birmingham, claims he's put on 7 pounds, gained a belly and endured back pain since his 19-year-old fiancée Charlotte Allsopp became pregnant.

"My morning sickness had prevented me going to work,” he told media. He also says he's been craving peculiar food combinations — much like an expectant mom would be. "I'd ring asking Charlotte what she was having for lunch. She'd say salt and vinegar crisps, and I'd be eating them at the same time," he said.

The Mirror reports the former model has been on medication for the symptoms, which started two months after his partner found out she was pregnant. At first he thought he was suffering from a bug. But further research, and a doctor's visit, revealed he could have couvade syndrome.
